					Kafue National Park Kafue National Park is Zambia’s oldest and largest park spread over 22,000 square kilometers, making it Africa`s second largest park. Less developed and less explored, Kafue National Park consists of a vast plateau, along the Kafue River.

					Animals & Birds Kafue National Park is home to over 55 mammal species, including large prides of lion. Leopards and cheetahs are the prime predators, giving chase to many antelope species such as lechwe and kudu. Hippo, bush pig and warthog can also be found. Smaller carnivores include the side-striped jackal, civet, genet and various mongoose. Over 400 species of birds have been recorded in the park - stay close to the rivers for the best opportunities. Wattled crane, purple crested lourie and Pel’s fishing owl are just a few of the more notable species.
				Notable Facts Kafue lays claim to the greatest variety of animals and birds found anywhere in Africa. The bush is still very wild and natural and with fewer visitors than most of the other national parks, affords a true safari experience.
					Visiting May to September Cool and dry with daytime high of about 74°F (23°C). Lows to 46°F (8°C) at night. October to November Hotter daytime temps of 95°F( 35°C), with little humidity. December to April The rainy season is hot and humid with daytime temperatures of 82°F (28°C). Some lodges close during this time due to impassable roads.
