					Gona-re-Zhou National Park Gonarezhou (pronounced Gonna-res-or) is located in the southeast corner of Zimbabwe, bordering South Africa and Mozambique. It is the second largest of Zimbabwe's game parks occupying over 5000 square kilometers. Outstanding bird watching, unique ecosystems, unique mammals and the opportunity experience a wild, rustic approach to game parks are the main draws for Gonarezhou.

					Animals & Birds Gonarezhou National Park is home to over 140 mammal species, including the Big 5. Gonarezhou means "place of the elephants" you can find these here with astounding abundance. Of the rarer mammals to occur in Zimbabwe, look for the wild dog, bat-eared fox, pangolin and nyala. In the southeast section of the park, Tambohata Pan offers an incredible array of water birds during the wet season.
				Notable Facts Gonarezhou offers a unique experience in Zimbabwe game parks as it rests outside the Zambezi basin, making it hotter and drier (with unpredictable rain). Gona-re-zhou is a definite choice for those wanting a more wild experience.
					Visiting Dry Season (May - Oct) In late June temperatures average in the mid 70's°F to the low 80's°F (23-28°C) making this the most comfortable game viewing time. From September to early November game viewing is at its best in the cool of early morning and early evening as daytime temperatures can rise to 90°F (34°C) Wet Season (Nov - April) The wet season is the obvious choice for bird watching.
