					Animals & Birds Fishing, walking safaris, house boating and cage swimming (beware of crocodiles!) along the 290 km man-made Lake Kariba offer many game viewing options. The Big 5, lots of bird life, and chances to view marine life make abound on the lake. Close encounters are more frequent here, as views from a houseboat can get closer, with a lesser chance of threat, than on land
				Notable Facts Located on the Zambezi river, Lake Kariba is the largest, man-made lake and reservoir by volume and lies along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Lake Kariba was filled between 1958 and 1963 following the completion of the Kariba Dam at its northeastern end.
					Visiting Dry Season (May - Oct) In the dry season animals come to the lake to drink and graze along the banks. As October approaches the heat starts to get oppressive. The dry season is the best time to visit. Wet Season (Nov - April) The wet season moves the animals away from the lake, as their dependency on this single source of water diminishes. Very humid and hot at this time of year.
