					Mana Pools National Park Mana Pools National Park is located in Zimbabwe's north just beyond the great dam at Lake Kariba. The "pools" are four lakes formed over the flood plain as the Zambezi river changed its course thousands of years ago. After every wet season, the lakes recede forming pools and bringing with them a vast number of animals and game viewing opportunities. To supplement the information here on Mana Pools, Lake Kariba and Matusadona National Park which lie within the Zambezi River flow, should be explored.

					Animals & Birds Buffalo, elephants, leopards, lions and cheetah are seen regularly along with the Nile crocodile, hippo and the occasional rhino. With its park like setting the option for unguided walks presents itself, as predators can been spotted from a distance. Over 380 bird species have been recorded in the park with the best time for viewing September to end of October.
				Notable Facts Located on the Zambezi river, the trees of the park provide a shaded canopy with little undergrowth, this allows for easy walking tours. Canoe trips must also be considered to get up close and personal with the game and also for exciting birding opportunities. Mana Pools is second in popularity to Hwange national Park and sees many annual visitors.
					Visiting Dry Season (May - Oct) In the dry season animals come to the pools to drink and graze along the banks. As October approaches the heat starts to get oppressive. The dry season is the best time to visit. Wet Season (Nov - April) Very limited access to park interior from December to March. During the rainy season guests have to travel by foot or by boat - car access is restricted.
