6 The Damaraland is one of the truly remote areas of Namibia. Travel via the Uis Mine and Twyfelfontein, with its large prehistoric collection of rock engravings. Then onto the Petrified Forest and the Valley of the Organ Pipes. Overnight Vingerklip Lodge on a full board basis. In Damaraland's Valley of the Ugab Terraces, one of the last, wilderness regions on earth, you will find a piece of paradise. Vingerklip Lodge is nestled in this beautiful landscape, against the backdrop of the imposing Ugab Vingerklip, a stone finger pointing to Heaven. Here you will find ten, comfortable, double bungalows with twenty rooms sleeping 48 guests. Four of the rooms are furnished for families. Enjoy fine international cuisine by an open fireplace in the restaurant Lapa or a Namibian traditional "braai" at the outdoor barbeque pit. The sundowner verandah gives you an unbelievable panorma of the whole valley, and far into Damaraland. What better place to enjoy endless vistas and breathtaking sunsets and silence, than Vingerklip Lodge! The Damaraland
in one of the truly remote areas of Namibia. Highlights here include the
Stone age rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, the 'Organ Pipes' - a geological
curiosity of perpendicular dolerite pillars roughly 100m long and up to
5m in height. As well here one can see the eerie landscape of a 12km long
ridge of hills known as 'Burnt Mountain,' (Brandberg). At the Petrified
Forest one can find dead and 'living' fossils - shattered trunks of petrified
tress, some as long as 30m, and more specimens of the ancient Welwitschia
can be found. |

7 Drive through mopane woodlands to the great Etosha National Park. Famous for spectacular concentrations of game, including a variety of antelopes, zebra, giraffes one may also see the elusive and specially adapted Desert Elephant. As with all of Namibia the scenery of Etosha - the shimmering salt pans, the distant horizons - lend a superb backdrop to the game viewing. Overnight Okaukeujo or one of the other well appointed National Restcamps on a full board basis. Okaukeujo Restcamp is located on the western most edge of the Etosha Pan. With a well-established flood-lit waterhole one can enjoy game drives during the day and in the evening sit quietly at the waterhole to see what visitors the night brings. You will have the opportunity to see animals such as elephant, black rhino, lions, jackals, zebras, and giraffes from close by. The camp has luxury and standard bungalows, en-suite rooms, and tents. Meals are taken in the restaurant or you can request the makings for an African braai under the open skies. There is a shop, museum, post office, bar and swimming pool for the use of the guests. Etosha National
Park is undoubtedly one of the great game parks of the African subcontinent.
The heart of the park is the Etosha Pan - a gigantic, shallow depression
in the ground - surrounded by mixed woodland of tamboti, wild figs, maroela
and different species of acacia and it is home to a host of big and smaller
game. While travelling in the park you are likely to encounter elephant,
hyena, warthogs, jackals and the richness of birdlife and antelopes is
truly stunning. Silence is key as you search the long horizons with lens
