KENYA SAFARI FROM NAIROBI

DAY 1 NAIROBI
On arrival in Nairobi you will be met and transferred to The Stanley Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. From the moment you pass through the century-old revolving doors, you leave the heat and bustle of modern Nairobi for a world of cool Victorian elegance. The spacious foyer with its marble floors, leather furniture, antique brass and wrought iron fittings, recalls era of grand living. Guarding the entrance is The Stanley's famous acacia xanthophildea whose message board, wrapped around its trunk, has formed the centrepiece of the legendary Thorn Tree Cafe since 1959. This is Africa's best known-meeting place.
   

Centrally located, The Stanley is a five star historical hotel renowned for its luxurious service and cuisine. In the Exchange Bar (so called as this was where the Nairobi Stock Exchange operated for 37 years from 1954), enjoy a long drink beneath the line of palm-leaf fans. Next door the Zen Restaurant fuses Mediterranean dishes with the finest flavors from the Pacific Rim. 217 luxurious rooms blend Victorian grandeur with modern comfort, such as air-conditioned rooms, including TV, video, and mini-bars. DAY 2 NAIROBI
MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB

A morning scenic drive to Mt. Kenya Safari Club. After lunch enjoy an afternoon relaxing in the beautifully manicured gardens or go swimming, horse-riding, play golf, tennis or visit the nearby animal orphanage. Dinner and overnight at the club on a full board basis.

The Mount Kenya Safari Club is situated 3 hours drive by road from Nairobi and offers spectacular views across heavily forested slopes to the craggy peaks of majestic Mount Kenya. The Club offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure. All of the 115 rooms are well appointed with en suite facilities. Activities and facilities at the Club include a swimming pool, 9 hole golf course, horse riding, tennis, sauna, croquet lawn, casino, discotheque, trout fishing, day trips to Mount Kenya, safaris and nature walks.
    

DAY 3 MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB
SAMBURU

Descend from the highlands into the arid Northern plains of Samburu. Afternoon game-viewing in Kenya. Look for the unusual animal species such as Reticulated Giraffe, Oryx, Grevy's Zebra or the long-necked Gerenuk.

The SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE lies some 300km north of Nairobi and adjacent to the Buffalo Springs National Reserve separated only by the Uaso Nyiro River. Arid, rugged, but savagely beautiful the two reserves cover an area of about 300 square km. With less than 300 mm of rain a year the wildlife depends for its very existence on the river fed from the rich forests of the Aberdare Mountains, 300km away. Several species of wildlife are found in Samburu, which are not found in other Kenya parks lying south of the equator. Among the most striking of these are the reticulated giraffe and Grevy's zebra. Lion, cheetah and leopard are all found here and elephant are plentiful. For the most part the reserve is hot by day but cool at night.
   

    
The Samburu Serena Lodge, set in its own Game Reserve is an enchanting place from which to enjoy serene, "away from it all" paradise. The thatched lodge is discreetly set on the banks of the wide Uaso Nyiro River and is a true bird-lovers heaven. All 62 bedrooms include bathrooms en suite and private verandas from which to watch the monkeys playing or see crocodiles sliding in and out of the River from the coolness of the shade. A welcoming swimming pool allows the guests to relax or enjoy a cool drink in the pool bar at the end of the day. Your stay at Samburu will be truly memorable.
    

    
DAY 4 SAMBURU
TREEHOTEL

Return to the highlands for night game-viewing at The Ark, deep in the Aberdare Forest. Overnight on a full board basis.

Set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, The Ark is a unique game lodge that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of wildlife - elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck, and occasionally an elusive bongo or giant forest hog. Resembling and named after Noah's Ark, The Ark comprises three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for game-viewing. A ground level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe possible to the animals. Comfortable en suite cabins are fitted with buzzers to announce the arrival of one of the "Big Five" at the waterhole. Before embarking on the half-hour drive to The Ark, lunch is served at the charming Aberdare Country Club. Dinner and breakfast are served 'on board'.
   

DAY 5 TREEHOTEL
NAIROBI

After breakfast return to Nairobi. You will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward flight.
